A returning client reached out to us regarding a property they acquired in a neighboring town, intending to construct a “forever home” designed for aging in place. During our preliminary site visits, we identified specific location requirements dictated by wetlands and other site-related constraints. Our design team collaborated closely with the homeowners to efficiently develop the plans for a two-story Colonial residence. The resulting home incorporates numerous accessibility features, such as low-threshold showers and primary bedroom spaces on the first floor, ensuring comfortable long-term living. To satisfy the clients’ primary objective of maximizing views, we integrated several large, south-facing windows overlooking the meadow. Furthermore, we took careful measures in positioning the house to maintain an appropriate visual profile from the lower elevations of the neighborhood.
